Engineering student of Bataan Peninsula State University recently had their field trip at Ilocos Norte. One of their destinations is at Bangui Wind Mills. It was built by the NorthWind Power Development Corporation to reduce the emission of harmful greenhouse gases which cause global warming and to speed up the rural electrification of the government.
The wind comes from the north east, from the sea towards the land. Turbines are installed along the shore facing the sea which remove wind breaks and achieves a terrain roughness of class 0.

There are 15 wind turbines which arranged in a single row spaced 326 meters apart. The turbines hub height is 70 meters high and each blade is 41 meters long while a wind swept are of 5,281 meters.

If you’re going to Ilocos, don’t forget to enjoy the view of these giant windmills because it is an amazing structure that’s truly a cool attraction. You can ride from a local bus or jeepney to get there. Take Laoag-Cagayan route then after five minutes after Burgos town proper, a marker on the left side of the road will lead you to Bangui bay which is the host of the wind turbines. Everyone is welcome to come to wind farm.
I am glad that someone is developed windmills because is it friendly environment because no fossils fuels are burnt to generate electricity. Also, wind turbines are a great resource to produce energy in remote locations.
