Hematuria or Blood in Urine Causes
Mom | July 23, 2010 | 1:58 am | Health | No comments

Last week, my sister in law visits us and told us she found blood in her urine.  Of course, her initial reaction is so nervous so went to the doctor for check up.  She had urinalysis and found out that she has urinary tract infection. She said that the cause of her UTI is due to lack of water consumption since she forgot to drink more water because she is very busy with her work.

By the way, hematuria is the presence of blood in the urine.  It could mean that there is a bleeding in the urinary tract including kidney, ureters, urethra, bladder and prostate gland for men. It can indicate different problems such as urinary tract infection, kidney infection, kidney stone injury, enlarged prostate in men and kidney or bladder cancer. Additional symptoms are painful urination, abdominal pain, and fever.  Gross hematuria means that the blood in visible in the eye while microscopic hematuria is only visible under microscopic and found in urinalysis. However, if you notice blood in the urine, it is important to seek medical evaluation to know the underlying causes.

The most common causes of hematuria among women are urinary tract infection because women are more prone of UTI than men.  It may happen when bacteria are enter the body through the urethra and begin to multiply in your bladder.  Kidney or bladder stone also cause to have blood in urine both gross and microscopic hematuria. Crystals from concentrated urine is forming and become small and hard stone in the walls of your kidney or bladder. It is painless unless it can cause a blockage or are being passed and cause excruciating pain. To prevent and avoid both urinary tract infection and kidney or bladder stone, always drink water most especially during summer season.

Recurrent Stomach Pain
Mom | July 20, 2010 | 1:44 am | Health | Comments closed

It was last year when my daughter has a lot of stomach pain after the treatment of her urinary tract infection (UTI). Stomach pain is more frequent upon waking up and before going to bed. But after massaging her stomach with aciete manzanilla, the pain was then subside so I though it is due to excessive gas in her stomach. I don’t want to take her to the doctor because it is mean more antibiotic to take and examination.

When we transferred to our new home, she suffered amoebiasis and after treatment of amoebiasis, stomach pain is still present so I decided to have another stool examination. It found out that there are a lot of bacteria in her stool so the doctor gave her another antibiotic for her stomach. The doctor thought that bacteria can be the cause of her stomach pain but after taking of 7 days antibiotic, the stomach pain is still there.

After one week, she suffered severe cough and develop a fever with stomach pain at night so once again I take her to the doctor and gave her cemaflor for upper and lower infection and salbutamol for her cough. After taking these medicine, the fever is on and off with stomach pain so we take her to the hospital and do urinalysis and hematology. According to the result of her urinalysis, there is urinary tract infection but thanks to God that her blood is negative to any illnesses. She didn’t admit to the hospital instead gave another antibiotic such as clariget and relestal for her stomach pain. The doctor advised also to take Kremil S for two weeks because her stomach pain can be a sign of gastritis. Relestal can’t improve her stomach pain so I decided to take advised from the elders here in my neighborhood, lola Maring advised to use betel leaf (samat leaf). I apply castor oil and warm the leaf lightly and then keep it in her stomach for three nights. I believe that traditional medicines are still effective. Her stomach pain is now instantly healed. There is no more complaint for stomach pain. Betel leaf is believe to be effective in digestive and stomach disorder. I also give her pandan lalaki for her urinary tract infection. I boil fresh pandan lalaki with a cup of water and drink it as water.

Our blessed hope, we find no rest
Until you reign in righteousness.
Then we shall come in garments pure
With all who love your dwelling fair.

Refrain
Oh Son of God, Oh Word of God
Oh light of God, prepare Your way.

This passing age, its strife will cease;
Your sons will live in endless peace.
Our eyes shall see the death of sin
All shadows flee, all sorrows end.

With hearts afire and set above
We seek your face, Oh Son beloved.
Our longing grows for heaven’s sight
Jerusalem, adorned in light.

The hour is late, the day draws near,
Make haste, Oh Lord, Your power stir.
Let all that lives Your name adore,
Remove the veil, and wait no more.

Refrain:
I now declare my allegiance to You O Lord.
My life and my will, at Your service my God.
Where You go, I will go, and You lead the way.
My God I will live and die for You.

Should it be the last breath I take O Lord,
I will use it to sing a song of praise to You.
Should it be my last drop of blood,
I will shed it for You. My God, I will live and die for You.

Show me where to live O Lord and I’ll live.
Show me where to die O Lord and I’ll die.
Show me what to do, and I’ll do it by Your side,
My God I will live and die for You.

At the sound of Your voice Master I will obey.
I will match every motion you make with open eyes.
May my ears be clear to hear Your command,
My God I will live and die for You.

My Daughter has Amoebiasis
Mom | June 10, 2010 | 6:57 am | Health | No comments

One morning, my daughter has fever and stomach pain. I thought it is just a fever due to weather condition here. So she take tempra for her fever then after a while she loose bowel. The fever goes down in the afternoon so I thought that everything is ok. I also give her dicycloverine for stomach pain. But at the evening she has heavy stomach pain that she couldn’t sleep and at the same time loose bowel so I worry so my husband go to the laboratory for stool examination and find out that there is protozoa in her bowel. The doctor prescribed metronidazole for amoebiasis and cotrimoxazole for antibacterial to be taken for 7 to 10 days. And also the doctor advised her to drink distilled water or boiled water. After two days of treatment she seems to be okay but still she has to take her medicine.

Amoebiasis is caused by parasites such as Entamoeba histolytica when indigested through contaminated water or food. Symptoms of amoebiasis are diarrhea, stomach pain or stomach cramps, nausea and fever. As of now there is no vaccine available for amoebiasis so it is important to make sure that you drink bottled water when traveled and a cleaned food.
